It's interesting Edward de Vere and Christopher Marlowe, leading candidates in the Shake-speare authorship question, were accused of atheism. Edward de Vere was even accused of criticizing Queen Elizabeth's singing voice along with pederasty and being "irreligious". *Gasp!* I wonder which one was considered the most heinous crime?.
